Operations Department – Translations Specialist (Administrative Position)

For more than 32 years, Sterling IRB has helped lead the way in safeguarding the rights and welfare of clinical research participants. Sterling is currently seeking an organized and detail-oriented, bilingual professional to serve as a Translations Specialist in our Operations Department.

The Translations Specialist position serves as support staff for the review of the following:

  • Responsible for assisting with all activities related to the translation of study materials and informed consent documents

The responsibilities of a Translations Specialist include:

  • Process request from Sponsor and/or Site to translate documents.
  • Select translation firm; obtain cost estimates and lead times.
  • Provide documents and materials to translation firm.
  • Obtain prepared translations and certificates from translation firm
  • Assist with the translations of site-specific informed consent documents and materials
  • Review submission of externally translated documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Communicate with the account manager to obtain any additional documentation or information as needed.
  • Preparation of materials for review by the Primary Reviewer.
  • Addition of review items to the Expedited Review Log
  • Generating and processing of approval correspondence
  • Assisting in processing of IRB documentation for approval actions (i.e. IRB issued documents and applicable document attachments).
  • Generate letters of acknowledgment for documents that do not require approval.
  • Responsible for answering incoming telephone calls
  • Other duties as assigned or as become necessary.

Education/Training/Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree + 2 years of work experience in office setting
  • Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Bilingual (Fluent in English & Spanish)

  • Demonstrate consistency and dependability in quantity and quality of work

The annual salary for the Translations Specialist position is $45,000 – $48,000.

Job Type: Full-time, office environment. Possible requirement to be in person at least during 90-day Introductory Period. Possible requirement to be in-person for staff and departmental meetings, to be held approximately once quarterly. In person ad-hoc meetings may be required. Out-of-state applicants and regional applicants located outside of reasonable driving distance from our offices may work fully remotely (no travel to in-office meetings required).
